How we verify
Our entire value is accuracy. Here is exactly how every battery fitment on CrankDex is built, checked, and dated, and what our status labels mean.
1. Fitment comes from application databases
We build each year / make / model fitment from established retailer application databases - the same fitment guides a parts counter uses. A retailer's own application data is correct by construction: it is what they sell against.
2. Referenced against manufacturer standards
Battery size codes (like YTX14-BS) are an industry standard shared across makers such as Yuasa, so the recommended code maps to a known case size, capacity, and terminal layout. Where a retailer's application data is incomplete or looks off, we flag it and default to the OEM / owner's-manual value rather than guess. We do not claim a row-by-row manufacturer audit we have not performed.
3. Every page shows its source and date
We publish the source we used and the date we last checked each page. If a fitment isn't confirmed yet, it's labeled pending verification and you should confirm it before relying on it.
4. Always confirm before you buy
The battery can vary by sub-model, displacement, or year. We surface those cases, but the final word is the label on your current battery and your owner's manual. We're a reference, not a substitute for checking your machine.

CrankDex is free to use and always will be. We make money from small commissions when you buy a part through some of the "where to buy" links, at no extra cost to you. We show the same specs to everyone regardless of who pays us, and our answers aren't influenced by any retailer. When the best option is a free in-store service or a retailer that doesn't pay us, we'll still point you there and earn nothing.
