How many CCA does my motorcycle need?
It varies with engine size: a small scooter may need under 100 CCA, a mid-size bike roughly 100-200, and a large or big-twin closer to 200-300. Cold climates need more. The exact figure is set by the battery your machine takes - match or exceed it.
Is more CCA always better?
Higher CCA does not hurt and helps in cold weather, as long as the battery is the correct case-size code and fits your tray. Going below the OEM rating risks hard starts in winter.
Does hot weather need more CCA?
No - heat does not raise the CCA you need, but it shortens battery life. Cold is what demands high CCA, because a battery delivers far fewer amps when it is freezing.
